à Mr. McCracken has also found vetted websites and placed them on the ND Library website. Take a look here.
à Research Days:
è Note: some of you during these Research Days may be involved in extra-curricular activities. If you will not be in class, it is up to you to prove to me that you have done three days’ worth of research in order to get the research-notes marks. The library is open outside of class time, so you will have opportunities to show me your notes, especially during the next week (see below).

àIn the January 2020 edition of the Notre Dame Observer, Lucia Nguyen (ND Class of 2020) wrote a column giving advice on how to do Tempus. Feel free to download it here.
à Day 1 Blocks will watch this movie on Jan. 20, 22, and 24. Day 2 Blocks will watch this movie on Jan. 21, 23 and 27.
à Here’s a historical critique of the movie from the YouTube channel History Buffs. Now while I’m aware of the historical inaccuracies of Kingdom of Heaven, I still think the movie is a useful tool for its visuals. Be warned; there’s a bit of British cussing in this clip if that sort of things bother you. The guy Nick Hodges really hates this movie.
à Here’s another historical critique which is a lot more reliable. It’s from Prof. Thomas Madden, the author of several of your sources for Tempus. While I think the movie is entertaining, Madden points out several historical discrepancies. Make sure your Tempus magazines are accurate!
à On Jan. 28/29, you will have time to work on a first draft of one of your research articles is due complete with in-text citations and works cited. This is to be submitted via Google docs and shared with me and all the members of your group as laid out in the criterion sheet by Saturday, Feb. 1 for both Day 1 & Day 2.

à Here’s a YouTube clip for those of you more musically inclined.
à For those of you interested in Thomas Aquinas’ philosophy, take a look at this introduction.
B. The Mendicants_4. The Inquisition (notes for Feb. 5/6)
[E6, E7, E8]
à How far can one justify the Inquisition? Think carefully. Here’s a take from YouTube on the Spanish Inquisitions. Almost as interesting as the music video are the comments afterwards.
à Here is a documentary on the Spanish Inquisition published by the BBC. Prof. Henry Kamen who is interviewed in it is a leading historian of the Spanish Inquisition.
à This is a good overview from the good folks at Fordham University
à Prof. Madden also has some interesting things to say about the Inquisition.
à Your revised/second draft will be due for both Day 1 and Day 2 students via Google docs on Saturday, Feb. 8th. Remember that all the members of your group must comment on your draft.
à Tempus Magazines are due on Feb 21st!!!
à Also, remember that you are a team, and that you must work together. Don’t be that guy…like this guy:
